About DIG

Are you a New Yorker who is working to make ends meet?

Earn $25/hour to share stories about
your life and test new technology

To build technology that matters and makes sense, we need to better understand how it fits into people’s lives. That’s where you come in. If you’re interested sharing stories about your daily life and testing new technology as it’s being built – and getting paid $25/hour for it – sign up below!

After you sign up you will probably receive a phone call from someone at Blue Ridge Labs within a few days. This phone call will last roughly 5-10 minutes and we’ll ask you a series of basic questions about yourself.

After that phone call, we tend to call people on an as-needed basis throughout the summer. Opportunities for DIG members also come up occasionally throughout the year, but with less frequency than the summer months. And don’t forget, that as DIG member you’re invited to all of our (always free) events!

Who We Are

Blue Ridge Labs is a non-profit organization that builds new technology. But, we’re not interested in helping people take better selfies. We want to build new technology tools that help New Yorkers facing tough challenges.

What is a user testing session?

A user testing session can look a variety of ways:

  • A one-on-one conversation where you share stories about your life or try out new technology and give feedback as you go along
  • Group conversations where you’ll share what works, what doesn’t work, what’s confusing, and what you really like about an app
  • Sometimes user testing is set up in stations. You’ll go around to different parts of a room and examine one part of a website at a time and give your honest feedback
