We are part of Robin Hood, the largest foundation dedicated to fighting poverty in NYC. We believe in a future where poverty is no longer part of the story, and we’re working to make that vision a reality. Through innovation, community, and technology, we’re building pathways to opportunity and creating solutions that empower people to thrive.

We believe in the dignity and potential of every person. In a world where too many are left behind by systems designed to serve only a few, we’re committed to building a future where economic mobility and opportunity are within reach for everyone.
We help founders create and scale tech-driven solutions that address the root causes of poverty. Guided by the lived experiences of New Yorkers, our ventures work directly with communities to co-design solutions that make a meaningful impact.
Our alumni have gone on to become Echoing Green Fellows, David Prize winners, and raised rounds from top venture capitalists and philanthropic institutions. Most importantly, their work touches millions of lives every day, proving that scalable, human-centered innovations can dismantle inequality. At BRL, we’re not just fighting poverty—we’re building a world where everyone has the chance to thrive.

The story behind
In 2015, Blue Ridge Labs became a part of Robin Hood to expand our reach and impact. With a shared commitment to fighting poverty, we set out to create and support founders with bold ideas—both for-profit and nonprofit—to elevate New Yorkers out of poverty.
2020
Amid the pandemic, BRL and Robin Hood launched new initiatives focused on health equity, housing stability, and financial access, partnering with ventures that have helped millions of people in New York and beyond.
2024
BRL expands to include investments in for-profit ventures that align with our mission, helping founders build sustainable businesses that drive economic mobility and reduce poverty.
